Wampum Cement
Colorful Industrial Landscape
$2100.00
The Wampum Cement Company was founded in 1874 and, through various iterations was the longest running cement plant in the U.S. It produced cement for the Brookly Bridge among other things. Located in Wampum, Pennsylvania, my great grandfather worked at the plant well into his 80s. It was a lifeline for generations, including for my family. The painting combines an image of the original factory and an imagined landscape. It explores the delicate balance between industry and nature, urging harmony where coexistence alone is not enough. It measures 30"x30" and is oil on board.
